Defense Mechanism

A defense mechanism is a reaction as a result of unhappy thoughts or feelings in another way to keep us being overwhelmed from the real problem. According to my resources, there are seven kinds of defense mechanisms:

1. Denial : to refuse a situation.
2. Rationalization : to think about reasons or excuses why or how the problem can occur.
3. Reaction formation : to proclaim the opposite of your feelings.
4. Projection : to believe someone else has the negative thoughts or feelings that you have.
5. Displacement : to be angry with someone who holds less important role instead with those who did the central point.
6. Fantasy : to do something entertaining to escape the problem.
7. Regression : to commit some immature acts.
